What a reviewed automation looks like.

Pick a task. Messy input goes in, the software does the repetitive part, a person decides the uncertain part, and a reviewed item comes out. Every name and number below is made up.

Interactive example

SampleIllustrative example, synthetic data. Not a deployed clinical product.

A faxed referral becomes a scheduling queue item, with one smudged field checked by a coordinator.

  1. Input

    What arrives

    Faxed referralExample Family Practice (synthetic)

    • REFERRAL pls schedule ortho eval
    • Pt: SAMPLE, Alex DOB 01/01/1901
    • Reason: R knee pain x 6 wks, worse w/ stairs, no injury
    • Ins: ExampleCare PPO Member # EX-00042-7 (last digit smudged)
    • Ref by: Dr. P. Placeholder, Example Family Practice
    • Ph: 555-0100 Fax 555-0199
    • notes: pt prefers mornings. imaging attached? (nothing attached)
  2. Automation steps

    What the software does

    1. Read the fax

Text is extracted from the scanned page, including the handwritten note at the bottom.

    2. Pull out the fields

Patient, date of birth, reason, insurer, member number, referring clinician and phone are identified.

    3. Check against known records

The referring practice is matched to the synthetic provider list. The patient is not found, so a new intake is proposed.

    4. Score each field

Every field gets a confidence mark. The member number falls below the line because one digit is unclear.

    5. Hold for review

Nothing is scheduled or sent. The item waits in the queue until a person decides the flagged field.

  3. Human review

    What a person decides

    Flagged for the referral coordinator

    Field
    Insurance member number
    Read as
    EX-00042-7
    Why it is flagged
The last digit is smudged on the fax. It could be a 7 or a 1. A wrong member number would fail eligibility later.
  4. Output

    What comes out

    Scheduling queue itemWaiting for review

Alex Sample (new patient), DOB 01/01/1901

Next step: Scheduler calls the patient and requests imaging from the referring practice.

What this shows, and what it does not.

  • The software never decides the uncertain part

Anything below the confidence line is held for a named person. Approving or correcting it is their call, and the record shows who made it.

  • Nothing leaves the building on its own

No message is sent to a patient, no record is released and no appointment is booked until a person has reviewed the item.

  • Everything here is synthetic

Names, dates, numbers and sites are invented so they cannot match a real person. This page shows the shape of a reviewed workflow, not a product.

Next step

See it on one of your workflows.

Bring one messy, repetitive task to a thirty-minute call. We will tell you honestly whether it is a good first candidate, and what the review step would look like for your team.
